Pathways to the Future: Examining Resiliency in Ontario, CanadaPathways to the Future: Examining Resiliency in Ontario, Canada
This foundational research mapped out how evolving climate hazards directly impact property values and structural vulnerabilities across Ontario. By developing a multi-level framework that evaluates site-specific exposure alongside community and municipal readiness, the project established a proactive methodology for future-proofing local real estate. The resulting insights offer an actionable roadmap for developers, policymakers, and financial stakeholders looking to protect real estate assets and effectively manage the economic shifts driven by climate change.

Designing the Path to Climate Compatibility
Developed in collaboration with the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) and the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), this strategic initiative tackled the urgent need for transparent physical hazard and climate risk disclosure within the housing sector. The project convened industry leaders across the real estate, insurance, and banking supply chains to establish a unified system for communicating localized risks to Canadian homeowners. Proposing a universal Climate Risk Index, this work provides the practical blueprints necessary to mobilize capital toward property-level resilience and transition Canada toward a climate-compatible housing system well ahead of 2050 targets.

Treading Water Report
Co-authored with the Global Risk Institute, this high-impact report analyzes the profound economic, structural, and agricultural vulnerabilities exposed by severe, climate-induced flooding—drawing critical lessons from events like the devastating 2021 British Columbia floods. The research quantifies the massive systemic strain that extreme weather inflicts on regional infrastructure, supply chains, and housing markets. By offering concrete solutions for proactive risk management, updated hazard mapping, and closer intergovernmental coordination, the report serves as an essential guide for building resilient flood mitigation strategies nationwide.
